tonight : lights out

Tonight is Earth Hour.
You can participate in a worldwide green movement tonight by simply turning off your power for one hour starting tonight at 8:30pm. The fourth annual Earth Hour will unite over 4,000 cities, 125 countries, and millions upon millions of people as we all take a moment to recognize our power to turn things off.

Major landmarks turning off their lights tonight include the Great Pyramids, the Empire State Building, St. Peter's Basilica, Sydney's Opera House, Mount Rushmore, the Brandenberg Gate in Berlin, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Eiffel Tower, the Acroplis, and many, many more.

Do your part in this worldwide effort. Turn off your lights and light a candle or have some fun in the dark.

bardot part deux: très exceptionnel

Sorry for the lack of posts. There was a pretty intense snowstorm over the weekend and I wasn't able to get in to the shop & have been away from my computer. Now that it is finally clearing up-we are going to get hit again tonight and into tomorrow morning. What a winter bummer! Cabin fever has me longing for spring & summer more than ever. To keep occupied I have been renting movies like a lunatic and scouring my favorite blogs and my new obsession--tumblr a lot lately.
I have been collecting these more candid and unknown shots of BB for a while now. I especially love the older ones. If you have been following Come Spy With Me for a while, you would know that I am a huge fan of Miss Bardot and never tire of looking at her photos or watching her films, even the awful ones.

Lady Miss Kier Kirby splashed onto the scene in 1990 fronting the group Deee-lite who were known as much for their outrageous personae and costumes as for their music. With a background in fashion and design Kier was an influence not only on the group's image but in early 90's fashion too. Her initial look was a combo of dance wear and revamped and exaggerated retro '60s fashions, which was revolutionary at the time. Her signature look was a zip-up catsuit, wild prints, platform shoes and flipped hair-do. She moved into a more 40's/50's Hollywood starlet look around the time of the second album release. Following that era she did a complete 180 and created a new look that was heavily influenced by and influential on the rave scene. Today she continues to perform and DJ around the world. What I love most is her ability to alway bring an element of glamour, fun, and femininity to not only her look but her work as well.
