hello dolly


A few years ago I received the This Is Blythe book from a friend and was introduced to a new and fascinating world of doll photography & fashion. The photos, shot by Gina Garan, brought this big eyed little doll to life and created a whole Blythe universe filled with color, style, and humour. Blythe stands a little over 11" tall and her oversized head holds eyes that change color with the pull of a string attached to the back of her head. She was only produced for one year in 1972 by Kenner Toys and then discontinued due to lack of sales. After the release of the book in 1997 a major cult following grew and the original dolls began to sell on ebay for hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars. Hasbro has re-released Bylthe in the States. Collecting and customizing the dolls has become very popular and many new photographers are jumping on Gina's editorial style. I think these photos are amazing. They not only remind me of the many fashionistas blogging today, they also provide inspiration.

I love these dolls! My favourite one is the 60s looking one above the guitar girl. I want her copy her entire outfit hehe.
