I always feel so much better when things are tidy. I come from a long line of clean freaks and though I feel it gets more lax with each generation, I (as well as my sister) still very much have the need for an orderly and dust free environment. I spent the better part of Monday getting organized in my room. This is my dressing room/office. After looking at through a copy of Flea Market Style that originally caught my eye on sally jane vintage and coming across this is glamorous I was official inspired. I organized my necklaces on a tree, hung my earrings on a wire mesh shelf, dusted off my make up and cleaned the brushes, hung my silk scarves over a tension rod, wiped down an old window box filled with treasure that my aunt made for me many years ago and finally nailed it up over my desk along with my inspirational cork board. Now that my desk is clear I want to work on some projects!
We are absolutely bursting!!!! After at least six months of dreaming, planning, hoping and building, the time has finally arrived...the grasshopper online boutique is finally up and running! Right now we are starting out with men and women's denim but we will be surely be expanding beyond that. New items will be added at least once a week. We really are so excited to have our little nook of a store online for the world to share in. Please have a look at our website or click here for shopping! Thanks so much for checking us out!!!
After a long wait, we finally received our order of cell phone clutches/satellite bags from Burger & Friends! This cute and quirky number is sure to get you noticed, start plenty of conversations and also make for a great late night photo shoot prop. You know what I'm talking about! Can you even imagine this shit on the dance floor? You'll be the envy of eeveryone! So move it, and get in to grasshopper...there are only a few of these puppies and they may just blow out of here.
My entry for comespywithme's first Spy Girl is going to Keira Knightley. This is a little strange coming from me because I find her rather annoying or at least the way she is quoted in the press and in her acting as well. If she would only continue to just stand there and look pretty. She has has been out and about a lot lately promoting for her new film Edge of Love, co-starring Sienna Miller. Every time they are promoting together in public Keira outshines Sienna, she has been looking really stunning! I am loving her clothing, accessories, make-up & especially her hair. I think I found a new summer up-do. Here are some shots from recent press.
Monday the grasshopper girls got out of the city and took a mini road trip. Before we left Philadelphia we stopped at a local favorite Cafe Estelle for a quick bite to eat. It's a bit of a hidden gem on 4th Street below Spring Garden on the ground floor of a new condo building. Cheery decor, local & fresh ingredients, and amazing food. I went for a flat bread pizza with goat cheese, kalamata olives, and artichokes. Tracy went for a ham & manchego panini with a side of the creamiest mac & cheese I have ever tried.
Once we were fueled up we got on 95 south and headed to Terrain Urban Outfitter's new take on a nursery & garden center. This is their first location housed at what was Styers, an over 100-year-old independent nursery. Tracy & I both agreed that this place is beautiful, more like being at a flower show than a garden center. The plants and flowers for sale were pretty reasonably priced and in good health. The accessories, pots, planters and other garden & home items were very expensive. After touring the grounds, we took a break with iced coffees in their cafe. Tracy bought two new flowering plants for her terrace and I left with inspiration. When I got back home I repotted all my house plants and gave them a good dousing of water. Nothing like happy house plants.
I love my feather hairclip from Laura Kranitz and I can't stop wearing it. In fact, I want all of them. Each piece is unique and one of a kind and I can't decide which one I want next. Although, I'm definitely leaning toward the bigger, the crazier, the better!
We just got some very exciting new pieces in from Carmelita Couture. Carmelita Martell is a local gal by way of Miami and her first collection is a bright hued, wildly printed array of 60's & 70's inspiration. She considers her fashion design contemporary art and designs for women with confidence. These pieces are beautifully constructed and offer amazing attention to detail such as hidden zippers, jeweled crystal closures and full silk linings. When I look at these dresses I can imagine wearing one to spend a day brunching & shopping in the city, an afternoon sailing, or a night hosting a fabulous cocktail party & BBQ. The hard part is choosing which one to make my statement in.
