springing forward

Frida Giannini has done it again. Since she has taken the role of creative director of Gucci in 2005 I was immediately intrigued. She has pretty much been doing a show-stopping job since then. How could she go wrong when one of the first things she did was scour the archives and bring back the iconic elements from Gucci's past, such as the "Flora" scarf patterns and equestrian imagery. Spring 2009 does not disappoint. Of course, I have been waiting with bated breath for this collection to proceed down the runway. The pants suits are strong and sexy in fantastic vivid colors. The prints are light handed, used almost as an accessory. Even when the line sticks to neutrals, there is still a playful, feminine mood. The highpoint is the gowns, which are stunning and I believe give the new Halston collection a run for the money. And the flowing, shiny, bouncing hair along with pops of blue on the eyes is enough to carry me through winter.
