feel like a woman-

Diane von Furstenberg was born Diane Simone Michelle Halfin on December 31, 1946, in Brussels, Belgium. She was raised in a upper-middle class family and attended the University of Geneva in Switzerland. It was here, at 18, that she met and fell in love with Prince Egon of Furstenberg. They were married in 1969 and for three short years she was became princess and found time for having two children. It is said that she knew as soon as she married that career was to be an important part of her life and in 1970 she started a women's clothing line with $30,000. By 1973 she had introduced her knitted jersey "wrap dress". This iconic piece of clothing was sold with the tag line "Feel like a woman. Wear a dress." Five million wrap dresses later and Diane graced the November 1976 cover of Newsweek, touted as the most marketable designer since Coco Chanel—and a new icon for liberated women. In the 1980's von Furstenberg took a break from fashion and moved to Paris. She relaunched her clothing line in 1997, and the wrap dress became the symbol for a new generation of women. Diane von Furstenberg is a real inspiration to women everywhere. She is a business savvy go-getter, a true beauty, a history maker, a class act, an independent woman. She designed a DVF capsule collection inspired by her favorite super hero Wonder Woman, has had a Barbie made in her likeness and two DVF Warhols in her private collection. After the showing of her Spring 2009 women's collection it is clear that this lady is here to stay and only getting better with time.
