The Madonna Inn located in San Luis Obispo, California is one of the most unique motels in the world. The Inn is the brainchild of Alex Madonna and his wife Phyllis.
Although the motel opened for business in 1958, all of the Inn's original rooms were burned to the ground in a huge fire in 1966. The Inn reopened a year later and by 1970 all 109 rooms were complete with lavish and flamboyant interiors.
Each room is completely different from the next and are styled by a variety of unforgettable themes. There is the Safari Room, Bridal Falls, Caveman, Barrel of Fun and China Flower to name a few.
